DRAWING INSPIRATION FROM TREES
With visionary artist Glennie Kindred

A workshop to unlock our creative responses to trees.

The day will help us to look at trees with fresh eyes, helping us to touch our poetic sense of wonder, so that we follow our intuition, open up to our feeling nature and extend our perceptions to engage with the trees themselves.

Using all our senses of sight, touch, smell, hearing and taste, we will connect to a variety of native trees, from near and far, admiring the different tree shapes, the rich diversity of colours, bark patterns, leaf shapes, flowers or fruit, depending on the time of year.
As we walk amongst the trees we will open ourselves to connect to the beneficial effect they have on us and look at the herbal and healing properties of our native trees. Using meditation and guided visualisation techniques we will extend our awareness to sense the essential nature of a tree or a tree species and intuitively express this on paper.

Using a variety of creative techniques we will also further explore anything that has inspired us on the walk. No previous drawing skills are necessary, although some drawing skills will be taught and interesting techniques shared.

The day will focus not on the finished results but on the pure enjoyment of our creative expression and being with trees.

Please bring a sketch book, pencils, crayons, pastels or paints, outdoor clothing, something to sit on and some lunch. Everything else will be provided.

This workshop can be run as a weekend or one day workshop or as part of a series of workshops, building on creative skills and the awareness of the changing energy of trees through the seasonal cycle.
